Für Elise on the gym hall floor

My first experience of Fur Elise was sitting on the gym hall floor with the rest of my class, I must have been about 8. Mrs Morrison, our music teacher played it on the piano, and I was moved beyond words. It was simply the most beautiful sound I had ever heard! When she finished playing she turned around and asked if anyone would like to hear it again and my hand shot up so fast and high I nearly took off. I knew the tune, as my Dad always played classical music at home, for which I thank him now, but in the stillness and quietness of the hall, the piano rang out those notes with such incredible beauty, the memory lives with me to this day.
