Stories about people's Für Elise experiences

Memories from childhood

This story was submitted by Shirley and was added around September 2009.

When I was very young, around 3 or 4 my brother (now deceased), who was in the RAF at the time and aged around 20, brought home a friend from the Yemen. His name was Pete and he bought my mother the gift of an alarm clock that player Fur Elise when the alarm went off. I played this over and over and eventually learned to play it on the piano (in my 40's). It was the first thing I wanted to learn. Sadly, shortly after Pete's visit he contracted Leukimea and died. I shall never forget him, the clock or the melody, to me it always conjures up memories of my childhood, my brother Robert and his friend Pete.
