I first heard this beautiful song on an episode of The Simpsons called Trash of the Titans. Homer says something incredibly stupid, and Lisa's brain talks to her inside her head, saying "Yes, I know, I heard it too. Here's some music . . . " and Für Elise starts to play in her head, soothing her. I loved that scene and whenever I am in a similiar situation, and need to be soothed, I simply play this song in my head. It's the most peaceful song ever composed.
