Story by Peter Tramont | Back to Story List

I first heard the Fur Elise when I was in elementary school. We we watching a movie in music class called Beethoven Lives Upstairs. I was too young to understand most of the movie, but what I'll never forget was the scene when a young woman visiting Beethoven saw the piece at the piano, and she began to play. That moment when she played the Fur Elise changed me forever. That beautiful melody, both lovely yet haunting, inspired me to want to learn the piano. It was my first exposure to classical music, and I fell in love with it.
