I don't remember when I first heard the piece Fuer Elise. It seems to be a classic that everyone knows at least in part. Recently, while six months pregnant, I was lying down while my husband took care of our daughter. We were planning on naming our child Julia if we had a daughter. But as I fell asleep Beethoven's Fuer Elise came to mind, and my husband and I decided if we had a girl, she would be Elise instead. Months later, Elise Isabel was born. This piece will always have a special place in my heart. Sadly, often when I sing it in my mind, the lyrics to that McDonald's commercial come into mind as well. I fight against that every time!
