Für Elise

Bagatelle in A minor WoO 59

Passing music down through the family

Submitted by Anonymous Author. Story added around July 2006.

When I was 7 or 8 years old, my parents were already divorced, and my dad, who was a musician, gave me an old keyboard. He taught me to pick out parts of some songs. He played a bit of Fur Elise, and told me what it was called. It became my favorite tune to play, even though I barely knew any of it. Now I'm 17, hoping to study music education, and I haven't seen my dad in about 8 years - I have a new keyboard, but I gave the old one to my seven-year-old sister. I'm teaching her to play, and she's picking it up very quickly.
